Two Classics Return:
Introducing the New and Improved Cannonball Falls & Tarzan Swings
We are thrilled to announce the return of two of our most classic rides this summer – Cannonball Falls and the Tarzan Swings. Many of you probably remember these two rides fondly from the past, but do you know just how far back their history goes? As legend has it, the birth of the Tarzan Swings and Cannonball Falls goes all the way back to early 1900s. 1918 to be precise, when some local kids discovered two natural swimming holes on Vernon Peak fed by the refreshing waters of the “mountain creek”. The vines hanging daringly over the one end of the deep pool and the popularity of Tarzan on the silver screen tempted those local kids to grab hold and thus, the Tarzan Swings were born. Soon kids were coming from miles around to challenge their nerves against the infamous swings. Not long after that a fallen tree was hollowed out into a slide and suspended over the other end of the pool. Daring riders would enter the dark slide and be shot out the other end like a cannonball into the refreshing pool below. The names stuck and the legend of the mountain creek swimming hole grew eventually becoming the waterpark that we all know and love today. Since those early days the Tarzan Swings and Cannonball Falls have been signature rides at our park… and now, after a few years hiatus, we are pleased to bring the latest incarnation of these classic rides back for you to enjoy this summer.
