SEASON PASS CANCELLATION POLICY:

1) A NO REFUND policy is in effect once the season pass has been purchased. Mountain Creek may, at its discretion, approve a credit towards a season pass for the next season or in some cases allow for a monetary refund (credit card or check ONLY).  Reasons to request a credit are limited to:  any debilitating injury or illness that prevents participation in the sport of biking; relocation/transfer due to employment more than 100 miles from Mountain Creek.

2) A written letter must be mailed or delivered to Guest Services (to the attention of the Guest Services Manager) by the passholder stating their reason for a request for credit on or before October 1st.

A formal letter must be emailed to Guest Services at guestexperience@mountaincreek.com by the passholder stating their reason for a request for credit on or before October 1st. In cases where the passholder has sustained injuries or illness, a physician’s letter describing the ailment and length of time the passholder is unable to participate must accompany the request.  Only an injury or illness that prevents the passholder from participating will be considered for credit.  Credit will not be issued for injuries or illnesses sustained after August 15th of the current season.  In the event of employment or education related relocation, a letter from your employer (on company stationary) or educational institution stating the new location and effective date is required; along with a person we may contact in the event we need to further verify the relocation. A request will not be considered complete until all supporting documentation and the season pass has been submitted.

3) An awarded credit amount is valid only for the following bike season and cannot be extended beyond that season.

4) In cases of credits for medical reasons, credits will only be issued to the person who sustained the injury or illness. Credits will not be extended to family members or friends.

5) Passholders who are granted a credit will have the credit amount pro-rated based upon the date their letter of request for credit/refund is received by Guest Services and/or the GS Manager. Requests for credit must be submitted by October 1st in order to receive consideration for a credit to be issued. Credits will not be issued for injuries, illnesses or transfers sustained after August 15th.

It’s never too early to get into mountain biking. Here at Mountain Creek Bike Park, we nurture the next generation of shredders as young as six years old in our dedicated half day and full day camps. We provide an excellent learning environment for kids while parents can enjoy the mountain.

 

BEGINNER DOWNHILL CAMPS

Beginner Kids Downhill Camp – Half Day Program

Our half-day beginner mountain bike camp for kids ages 6-9 is a great way to get them acquainted with the fundamental mountain bike skills that will help give them more confidence and more fun on their bikes. We’ll include the use of games to help the kids learn the skills while having fun. These skills include:

  • Basic Body Position and Balance – How to stand on the bike, how to put your feet on the pedals, how to move on your bike to create a stable, balanced position
  • Braking – How and when to use your brakes
  • Gears – How to use your gears (cadence, shifting and pedaling technique)
  • Vision – How to ride better by looking ahead
  • Pumping the bike
  • Basic cornering techniques

What should I wear?

Our full day Intermediate Kid’s Downhill Camps help you take your skills to the next level with a focus on getting over rocks, drops, and jumps.   • Line choice – how to scope out the best line for you to ride

Womens Camp

WOMEN’S DOWNHILL WEEKEND

This season we have three opportunities for Women’s Weekends. Enjoy a weekend of riding and confidence building with our skills clinics.  Sign up for as many sessions as you like but be sure to follow the correct path for your ability level.

Start small with the Beginner Path and work your way up to the Intermediate Path gaining confidence along the way. These clinics are a great opportunity to gain confidence on your bike while working with like-minded women on your downhill mountain bike skills.

Our Women’s Downhill weekend is offered in collaboration with Kathi Krause and Dirt Rock N’ Root Training.  Kathi is a 3X World Masters and 5X National Downhill Champion and is fully certified by both PMBIA and IMBA for coaching.  Joining Kathi will be guest coach Tracey Spiritus and other local female riders.

TRAIL BOSS ACADEMY

We’ve partnered with local pro rider Jeff Lenosky to bring his Trail Boss Academy to Mountain Creek Bike Park for a variety of Clinic options. These clinic will provide a great foundation for riders looking to gain confidence and improve their riding skills utilizing Trail Boss Academy Standards.

With both Intermediate & Advanced options available for both 1-day & 2-day packages, you can explore the options and pick the academy product that’s right for you. The Student to Coach Ratio is 6 to 1.

Jeff has over 25 years of experience in the sport with a degree in Movement and Sport Studies. He’s also a 3X National Champion in the Pro class, and World Record Holder with a popular Youtube Channel called Trail Boss.

We will use the Trail Boss Academy Standards to optimize:

CANCELLATION POLICY

If it becomes necessary for you to cancel your reservation, we must be notified at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled arrival time to qualify for a full refund.  Reservations cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled arrival time will be charged for one (1) full day rental.  In the rare event that the Bike Park is closed due to severe, inclement weather, all bike reservations will be cancelled without penalty.

Policies

Whether it’s your first time in the park or it’s your first lap, it’s important to ride smart. Slow down before you speed up because crashes can happen often on your first lap. Ride a trail multiple times to get familiar with the features and equipment first so you can confidently push your limits without pushing your threshold.

TRAIL PROGRESSION

Follow these 3 steps when starting to ride

  • Warm up the brain and body and inspect the trail at low speed.
  • Lap a trail a few times and get to know the flow of the features.
  • Start small and work your way up to faster speeds and larger features.

Match your skill on the right trail

All trails within the Bike Park are designated by color-coded markers at the start of each trail. Work your way up to more advanced trails and features based on your progression, skill, and comfort level. Understand there are also two types of trails as well: Freeride and Technical and both types range from Beginner to Expert.

FREERIDE TRAILS: JUMPING SKILLS REQUIRED

Freeride trails are built by machines and contain manmade features including jumps, drops, gaps, wallrides, narrow surfaces, berms, and other natural or constructed features. Freeride trails are distinguished with an orange oval around the difficulty symbol.

Beginner

  • Smooth, wide surfaces with gentle corners and rolling terrain.
  • Designed for new bike park riders.

Intermediate

  • Smooth surfaces on steeper terrain, including larger corners, rollers, and small jumps.
  • Raised features like bridges and wallrides require jumping skills and speed.
  • Suited for riders who have mastered all beginner freeride trails.

Advanced

  • Mix of smooth and rough riding surfaces on steep and fast grades.
  • Larger-man-made features including jumps, raised bridges, and steep wallrides.
  • Advanced jumping skills required.
  • Suited for riders who have mastered all intermediate freeride trails.

Experts only

  • Trails with steep terrain and very fast speeds that require expert jumping skills.
  • Mandatory jump features that require knowledge of gaps and landings.
  • Suited for the most advanced riders only.

TECHNICAL TRAILS

Technical trails are designed to embrace the rugged shape and terrain of the mountain, utilizing a majority of natural terrain features. Trails are typically hand-built and feature organic obstacles and stunts such as rocks, roots, logs, drops, jumps, and other natural or constructed features that require technical riding skills. Technical trails are identified by just their difficulty symbol.

Beginner

  • Rougher singletrack trails with small rocks and roots.
  • Designed for new bike park riders comfortable with beginner freeride trails.

Intermediate

  • Rougher terrain with tighter corners and steeper grades.
  • Larger natural obstacles, including roots and rocks.
  • Suited for riders who have mastered all beginner trails.

Advanced

  • Steep grades with large technical features, including rocks, roots, and drops.
  • Technical handling through tight trees and rough sections.
  • Suited for riders who have mastered all intermediate technical trails.

Experts only

  • Steepest grades with the most technical features.
  • Warming up on intermediate and advanced trails encouraged.

MOUNTAIN CREEK BIKE PARK POLICIES

Mountain Biking is a fun and exciting sport the entire family can enjoy.  It is important to note though that Downhill Mountain Biking is a significantly different sport than road cycling, trail riding or even cross-country mountain biking.  It requires a level of physical and mental effort to navigate the trails safely and maintain control of the bike. For these reasons, we encourage all guests to familiarize themselves with the information provided on this page and our resort safety policies and information.

Age Policy

  • Children under the age of 5 years old are not permitted on the Downhill Mountain Biking Trails.
  • We strongly recommend that all children under the age of 14 are accompanied on the trails by and adult at all times or registered in a lesson program.

Equipment Policies and Recommendations

  • A helmet must be work at all times while riding the Lift and Mountain Bike trails.
  • We strongly recommend the use of a full-face Downhill Mountain Bike Certified helmet while riding the Downhill Mountain Bike Trails.
  • The downhill mountain biking trails at Mountain Creek are specifically designed to be ridden on full suspension mountain bikes with at least 5 inches of travel (6-8 inches is optimal). The trails are rocky, bumpy and become much more difficult without high-quality suspension. Without full suspension, fatigue becomes a factor much sooner (especially for less experienced riders). Front suspension (hard tail) mountain bikes are not forbidden but not recommended. BMX bikes are not allowed on the Downhill Mountain Bike trails. Fully rigid bikes (without at least front suspension) are also not permitted.
  • Due to the steep grades on the downhill trails we strongly recommend disc brakes for adequate stopping power. Cantilever (or caliper-style) brakes will increase the fatigue factor as more effort will be required to control your speed. We also recommend that all bikes on the downhill trails must have one functioning brake per wheel. Mountain Creek Bike Park can be demanding on your bikes brakes. Mountain Creek reserves the right to deny access for any bicycle that isn’t suited for the mountain’s terrain.
  • All riders should use a properly sized bike which allows you stand over the seat of the bike with your feet flat on the ground. A bike that is too large or with the seat raised high can increase the risk of injury. If you have any questions regarding your bike fit, please come see one of our staff in the Bike Center. If you do not have a suitable mountain bike, we highly recommend you consider renting a Downhill Mountain Bike for the day.
  • Please note: Uphill riding is not permitted in the bike park.

Know the Code

Be safety conscious. It is your responsibility to know the code.

  • Always walk your bike through the base area of the resort including common areas and pedestrian walkways. Riding your bike in these areas will result in loss of riding privileges
  • Maintain control at all times. It’s your responsibility to stop or avoid other riders, objects, debris and wildlife around you
  • Yield to slower riders and yield to the rider below you. This is your responsibility, regardless of trail ratings.
  • Do not stop where you obstruct a trail, feature or are not visible to other riders approaching from above.
  • If you are witness to or involved in a collision or accident, please assist and report the incident to the Bike Park staff.
  • Keep off closed areas and obey all signs and warnings.
  • Always start on marked bike trails. Do not ride on ski trails or access roads unless marked as part of a bike trail
  • Hiking or uphill mountain biking in the Bike Park on bike-specific trails is not permitted and dangerous.
  • Do no feed, provoke or approach wildlife.

Park privileges will be revoked for breach of code. Know the code! It is your responsibility to know the Mountain Biker’s Responsibility Code to ensure a safe and fun experience for all guests.  Please take your time to review the code here before heading out to the Bike Park.

WHAT TO WEAR

Ride Smart. Cover Up.

Don’t let weather, obstacles, or crashes put an early end to your day. Protect your body from a range of elements and injuries with this recommended protective gear designed exclusively for downhill mountain biking.

  • Helmet (Mandatory) – A helmet is required for all riders in the bike park. We strongly recommend a full-face helmet to provide the greatest range of protection.
  • Goggles – Wrap-around goggles are the best choice for eye protection against dirt, branches, and other obstacles you’ll encounter on the trails or in a crash.
  • Elbow and Knee Pads – Provide protection from cuts, scrapes, and any impact to these parts of your body that are most common to be injured in a crash.
  • Closed-Toe Shoes – Shoes with a durable toe box and high ankle support are important to manage the rough terrain and impact.
  • Long-Sleeved Shirt and Shorts – Cover up with the proper clothing to limit the amount of bare skin showing.
  • Full Finger Gloves – Use these to keep your hands on your bars with secure grip on your brakes. Your hands are typically first to support you in a crash so you want them covered up.
  • Body Armour – Optional for anyone who wants extra protection for your back and chest.
  • Neck Brace – Optional for anyone who wants extra neck support which typically is needed when hitting large jumps and drops.
